Overview

Have you been putting off having a difficult conversation with someone in your team? Do you need help building your confidence to address a challenging situation? Are you anxious that the reaction or outcome might not be as expected?

As humans, it’s natural for us to feel uneasy about confrontation, but you’re not alone – many managers share the same fears. If you’re looking for guidance on how to navigate through the process of having a difficult conversation, then this workshop is for you.

You’ll learn practical ways to acknowledge and overcome your own barriers and discover how best to prepare for and structure a difficult conversation to help you feel calm, courageous and in control.

We will share our top tips on how you can foster an open and honest culture in your workplace, ultimately building trust and respect amongst your colleagues and equipping you with the skills to manage emotions and deliver constructive feedback confidently.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Identify the need for a difficult conversation by recognising certain behaviours
  • Confidently deal with your own apprehension about a conversation
  • Use a simple framework for structuring a conversation
  • Give non-judgmental, effective feedback based on facts

Format

When it comes to delivering online courses, we understand that everyone learns differently, which is why we facilitate a variety of different activities to enhance your understanding of the workshop content.

We encourage open discussion and participation, giving you the opportunity to exchange knowledge, engage in teamwork and work on your communication skills! We want to hear what you’ve got to say, so ask that your cameras and mics are switched on for the session.

You’ll have the chance to work individually and within small break-out groups as we complete a range of exercises including quizzes and polls, ultimately building both your confidence and expertise.

For a more personalised experience and to ensure a truly interactive workshop, we’ve found that group numbers are best kept between 8 and 10 delegates, with no more than 12 spaces being available.

We will provide you with a PDF of the workshop slides, copies of relevant handouts and a list of book recommendations discussed during the session!
