Module Outline

This module gives new managers a clear, practical understanding of the HR basics every business needs in place. It focuses on helping managers understand the fundamentals, spot risks early, and know when to involve HR without needing specialist knowledge or legal expertise. 

We will cover: 

• The basics of contracts of employment and written terms 

• Understanding employment status and why it matters in practice 

• The minimum HR policies most businesses need, and how they’re used 

• Understanding discrimination and harassment at work  

• The manager’s role in promoting fair treatment, dignity and respect  

• Knowing when concerns about behaviour must be escalated.
