I found the mental health first aid training excellent, it was delivered sensitively and professionally, everyone’s points of view were considered and respected. I would thoroughly recommend this training to other voluntary sector organisations.

I attended the Mental Health First Aid course held by Loates Management Training last week, I was impressed by the quality of training Amanda delivered, the course content was excellent and the reference material we took away was of a very high standard.

The venue was perfect the room was well ventilated and roomy and all the IT worked first time! Result!

I would also like to mention Loates’ team – they welcomed us and kept us well fed and watered throughout the course, they were professional courteous and delightful.

i would have no issue recommending this excellent HR consultancy for any training needs

Molly Paulson
Care Services Co-ordinator

Really enjoyed the 2 day training course, learnt a lot and it also reaffirmed that ways I was handling situations was what would have been expected of a Mental Health First Aider. .
Small group but this enabled us all to be more open with each other especially as there were some sensitive subjects discussed throughout the course.
Annie is incredible she is so easy to listen to and has a wealth of expertise that she uses during the course and with this she enabled us all time and space to discuss and share ideas and information.
Loved the fidget toys and snacks Annie shared with us what a great idea.
Just want to say a huge Thankyou.

Denise Austin
Physical Activity and Wellbeing officer

I participated in a 2 day training course for a qualification as a MHFA first aider. The course was really good, well delivered and a success, I feel confident in being able to deliver what was taught and given to me within my work role and in general. Thank you Loates and thanks Annie!!

I recently did the online MHFA course and it was fantastic, leaving me feeling confident in helping support others and gain a good understanding of all the behaviours and symptoms of different types of mental health conditions.

Some of the subjects were quite hard to listen to but Tayla and Annie constantly assured us we could take a break and checked in with us to make sure we were ok, reminding us how important it is to take care of ourselves too.

This approach made us feel like we were in ‘safe place’ to discuss these subjects and had support in a warm learning environment with a bit of fun mixed in!

The structure of the learning was perfect as we had a mix of listening to the instructor, watch videos and do interactive work in small groups.

I felt like I learnt so much and having the chance to practice conversations made me feel much more confident in turning the theory into practice.

I would highly recommend them to everyone!

Executive Assistant

I recently attended the 2-day Mental Health First Aid training at Loates Management Training and am really pleased I did. Sometimes it’s hard to allow yourself two days ‘off work’ and invest in your own development, but I’m glad I did. Apart from increasing my knowledge about mental health, the training has given me the confidence to approach staff about mental health, the focus to further invest in mental health awareness and – as a great bonus – the importance of self-care was a great reminder.

P.S. The training room in Loates’ new facility in Darley Mills is fantastic too – onsite parking and a stroll in the park at break time.

Francoise Derksen
HR Manager

A highly informative and interesting course, delivered sensitively yet entertainingly by Amanda Jackson. I now feel way more equipped to deal with mental health issues both in my personal and professional life. A hugely beneficial two days – thank you.

Helen Brown
Business Manager

I really enjoyed this course and the content was just right. A valuable insight into mental health and how it may impact on the individual you are supporting. Signs to look out for, some of which are not obvious. A lot of group work, which I prefer, as you can brain storm together and learn from each other. Some great video’s to watch too.
How to be an ‘active listener’, which is not as easy as it sounds. Role play helped with this. The manual you can access online is a great resource.
What an honour to gain this qualification and to be able to support your colleagues.

Care Services Administrator
