Overview

Moving into your first management role can be daunting and especially when you may have to manage your former peers. Understanding what the role of a manager entails and getting to grips with the skills needed is the focus of this session. You will gain an insight into the management skills and competencies relevant for today’s challenges.

This course covers:

Half day session

  • Motivation – giving people purpose, mastery and autonomy
  • Defining your role and responsibilities as a manager
  • Reflecting upon your own management style and areas for development
  • How to focus on the team, the task and the individual
  • Performance management – how to get the best from people and what to do when performance dips

1-day session

All the above plus:

  • Cases studies to explore common management challenges
  • Focusing on employee engagement
  • Developing an action plan of practical ways to move your management skills forward
