GDPR – Making it Actually Happen

Wednesday 23rd May, 08:30 - 12:30

Includes breakfast, template document pack, and post-course HR support. Now with FREE GUEST PLACE!

Course Overview

We’re as tired as you are of all those GDPR courses that overwhelm you with legalise, and frighten you with the consequences of non-compliance, but don’t tell you what you actually need to do.  So instead, this course focuses on the ‘how’ not the ‘what’ of GDPR. During the workshop we will turn theory into action, guiding you through the practical steps needed for GDPR compliance, some of which you will actually complete during the workshop itself. With clear post-workshop actions for what you need to do back in the business, accompanied by a comprehensive suite of documents to support you with this task. And naturally, as an HR provider the workshop will focus on some of the specific HR aspects of GDPR.

Course Content

  • GDPR overview: Purpose, principles, changes
  • How do I demonstrate compliance: accountability and GDPR roles
  • Start mapping your data and records of processing
  • Know your lawful processing basis – identify and understand which lawful reason to use to justify processing the data
  • Identify the different companies ‘data processors’ you share data with and what you need from them
  • What should be included in a privacy notice?
  • Function specific considerations, Marketing, IT, Finance, HR
  • Data breaches and how to manage these

Document Pack

A comprehensive document pack is supplied on USB stick for you to use within your business, and you’ll begin working with these during the course itself. Prepared by the experts from LoatesHR, these fully editable Word document files will save you hours of research and typing pain.

  • GDPR workbook – A data mapping template – to help you identify by business function (e.g. marketing, HR, Finance) the data which you hold, for legacy and future data.
  • Data protection policy
  • Privacy notice templates
  • Managing subject access request policy and template letters

Post-course Support

Post workshop, the course includes an optional 1 hour of support with your LoatesHR account manager on your implementation plan and specific questions related to your business.

Having run this course previously, we have found that business owners would often like to be accompanied by the person actually responsible for implementing GDPR within their company. So, every course ticket now includes a FREE GUEST PLACE for an additional delegate from the same organisation.

Breakfast is included, in addition to tea & coffee during the day.

No-quibble money-back guarantee

We’re so confident about the quality of our courses, and the business value that they provide, that we offer a no-quibble money-back guarantee. If you don’t think the training was worth it, we’ll give you your money back. No fuss, no debates, no arguments. Just ask. Simple as that.

Your trainer Sarah Loates is a highly qualified HR practitioner, with over 20 years of experience dealing with HR and employment law issues, within both owner managed SMEs and large multinational corporations. In addition to delivering training, she also continues to provide client advice on more complex HR cases.

As a result, she is able to bring theory to life with numerous interesting real-world examples, and show you the best ways to effectively deal with the types of tricky HR and employment law issues that you’re actually likely to face in practice. And since Sarah is a current CIPD trainer, and has also taught at several local universities, she knows how to deliver engaging courses that fully involve participants through practical exercises, case studies, and Q&A sessions. No ‘death by PowerPoint’ here.

To ensure you receive maximum attention from our knowledgeable facilitators, this open course is limited to 8 delegates. And since you will be taught in small friendly groups in a relaxed environment, it also gives you the opportunity to network with like-minded business professionals from a variety of other industry backgrounds.

This course will take place at the Vernon Gate offices of one of our associates, just a couple of minutes away from our own Derby city centre offices on Friar Gate. They’re easy to get to and have free on-site parking!

Don’t just take our word for it, see what previous delegates had to say about this course:

“You’ve got such a great delivery style Sarah and so knowledgeable that I think everyone should come on your courses! I am your number 1 fan 😊”

Rachel Hayward, Director, Ask the Chameleon, Derby

“We recently had the privilege of attending one of their training workshops on the subject preparing for GDPR… The workshop was incredibly well planned and delivered in a comprehensive and engaging manner, the workshop included the supply of valuable assets and documents for attendees to take away and use within their business. I have come away from this workshop feeling far more knowledgeable and prepared for the new GDPR legislation.”

Craig Barker, Director, Koobr, Derby

“If you’re going to get conned into a seminar on GDPR it might as well be one that is full of insight and research that you’d spend 100s of hours on yourself ! And then a bonus of spreadsheets and templates to make your life so much easier leading up to May !!”

Dr Bill Peacock, Director, GRM Development Solutions, Derby
